Fifty jobs lost at Buckfastleigh building firm

Fifty staff at a Devon building firm have been made redundant following the collapse of a company.

Blight and Scoble, based in Buckfastleigh, will go into formal liquidation at a creditors meeting on Wednesday.

The company said its financial problems had been caused by the difficult trading climate for property developers

The building firm had been trading in the area for more than 100 years.

Bishop Fleming Chartered Accountants have been appointed as the liquidators.

In a statement they said: "Due to difficult trading conditions the company ceased to trade on 26 August 2010 and all employees were made redundant at that time."
