Guernsey weekend vehicle ban trial to start

A temporary weekend vehicle ban is being trialled in an area of Guernsey to enhance the safety of pedestrians.

The States of Guernsey has implemented the night-time ban at Lower Pollet after police voiced concerns about the number of vehicles in the area.

The ban will prohibit all vehicles from travelling through and parking in Lower Pollet on Friday and Saturday nights between 2300 and 0300 BST.

The ban will run for four consecutive weekends starting on 17 September.

Following the trial, the environment department will discuss its success and consider whether to introduce the ban for a year.

A vehicle ban must run for a year, before a permanent ban can be legally introduced.
