Van goes over Devon bridge and lands on building

A driver escaped from his van unhurt after it went over a bridge in north Devon.

The fire service, police and paramedics were called to the incident near Great Torrington at about 1950 GMT.

The fire service said it was believed the man lost control of the van on a bend and drove off the bridge, landing five metres below on an outbuilding.

An investigation has begun into the incident, police said.

The vehicle was recovered from the scene with a crane.
