Second arrest in Torquay child sex investigation

A second man has been arrested in connection with a child sex abuse investigation in Torquay, Devon.

The 22-year-old man, from Brierley Hill in the West Midlands, was arrested on suspicion of raping two women and sexual activity with a child.

The offences are alleged to have taken place in Torquay, where the man is originally from, Devon and Cornwall Police said.

He remains in custody at Brierley Hill Police Station.

Last month Jake Ormerod, 19, of Babbacombe Road, Torquay, was charged with sexual offences against children and remanded in custody.

Operation Mansfield is a Devon and Cornwall police investigation into the alleged sexual abuse of up to 20 teenage girls in the Torquay area.

Det Insp Simon Snell, senior investigating officer, said: "Police continue to interview a number of children in Torbay in connection with Operation Mansfield.

"We are still asking anyone with any information to please come forward and speak to us regarding child exploitation in the bay area."
