Man bailed in Torquay child sex investigation

A man arrested in connection with a child sex abuse investigation in Devon has been bailed by police.

The 22-year-old man, from Brierley Hill in the West Midlands, was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of raping two women and sexual activity with a child.

The offences are alleged to have taken place in Torquay, where the man is originally from, police said. He has been bailed until April.

A man, 19, was last month charged with sexual offences against children.

Jake Ormerod, of Babbacombe Road, Torquay, was remanded in custody.

As part of his bail, the 22-year-old man is not allowed to enter Devon or contact witnesses.

Operation Mansfield is a Devon and Cornwall Police investigation into the alleged sexual abuse of up to 20 teenage girls in the Torquay area.

Police are continuing to interview a number of children in Torbay as part of the operation and are asking anyone with any information to come forward.
