The family of an 11-year-old boy from Devon who died in a quad bike accident said they were "devastated" by his death.

Kieran Horn, from Lamerton, near Tavistock, died at the scene of the accident at a farm on Wednesday.

It is not known whether he was wearing a crash helmet at the time.

Devon and Cornwall Police said his death was not being treated as suspicious and the coroner had been informed.

Kieran's family said in a statement: "We are devastated by the death of our precious son Kieran.

"He loved to be outdoors and was very involved in the local community.

"He will be dearly missed."

Ann Mitchell, the head teacher of Lamerton CE Primary school, where Kieran was a pupil, said: "The whole school is extremely shocked to hear of the tragic death of Kieran.

"Kieran was a lovely boy who took part in a full range of school activities and our thoughts are with his family at this very sad time."

Kieran was involved in several local groups, including the West Dartmoor Pony Club.
