Retired teacher had child with former pupil

A teacher accused of raping a 15-year-old girl later had a relationship with another girl of the same age who had his child, a court heard.

Exeter Crown Court was told Kenneth Anbany and the girl lived as "husband and wife" after her 16th birthday and she had his child at the age of 19.

The girl, now 35, said she had been vulnerable then and now felt "angry".

Mr Anbany, 63, of Stockport, denies raping a girl of 15 after a disco at the school in Devon.

'Bit of a letch'

Prosecution barrister Richard Crabb told the jury that Mr Anbany, a retired maths teacher, would admit dancing with the alleged victim at the school party but deny any wrongdoing.

He also faces two charges of inciting the girl to commit an act of gross indecency between April 1984 and April 1985.

Giving evidence, the witness who later had his child, said: "I had sex with him on many occasions, at least a couple of times a week."

When Stephen Dent, for the defence, said Mr Anbany had been "quite scrupulous" in waiting until the witness was 16 before they had sex, this was rejected by the woman.

Another witness said she had been a pupil at a school in Devon when Mr Anbany gave her a lift home and asked if he could kiss her.

Under cross-examination the woman, now 38, described him as "a bit of a letch".

The trial continues.
