A diver was accidentally shot with a speargun as he was fishing off the south Devon coast.

The man was speargun fishing with a friend off South Milton beach when he was shot by his colleague's weapon.

He was treated for a cut to his upper body and shock by RNLI lifeguards after the incident on Friday.

Liam Krige, RNLI lifeguard supervisor said: "The casualty was extremely lucky. It was probably his wetsuit that prevented any serious injury."
