Escaped bull in Exeter is shot by police marksman

A bull which escaped in Exeter has been shot dead by a police marksman.

The white male steer escaped from the Exeter Livestock Centre at Matford on Friday. Police were called to the scene at about 1315 BST.

Officers and the force helicopter searched for the animal, which was described as "aggressive".

It was located near Shillingford Road, in the Alphington area, at about 1500 BST. It was killed by an officer with a rifle, police said.

No-one was injured during the incident.
