A woman is being treated for serious chest injuries in hospital after a crash in which her car ended up on its roof on a Devon dual carriageway.

The eastbound carriageway of the A38 near Ashburton was closed for several hours after the accident on Sunday.

The woman's car is thought to have clipped the central reservation before ending up in a field. No-one else was in the vehicle.

Firefighters from Buckfastleigh and Newton Abbot cut the woman free.

She was airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.
