The first brick of a £1.4m teaching and training centre has been laid at a college in east Devon.

Bicton College's centre for renewable technologies called Bicton EaRTH will provide training in solar, thermal and rainwater harvesting, a spokesperson said.

The project is being funded by a number of organisations including Devon County Council and the Skills Funding Agency.

The centre is expected to be finished by spring 2012.
