Two men rescued from River Tamar mud in Plymouth

Two men have been rescued after getting stuck in mud on the banks of the River Tamar in Plymouth early on Sunday.

The police were called by a worried member of the public who spotted the two, aged 20 and 30, some way from the shore at Kinterbury Creek at 0129 BST.

One managed to get himself to safety, the other was rescued by the Devon and Somerset Fire Service using inflatable mud mats.

The men were taken to hospital for observation and released later.
