Martin Stansfield was man killed in Weare Giffard crash

A man who died in a head-on road collision in north Devon has been named by police as Martin Stansfield.

Mr Stansfield, 50, from Torrington, was driving a Citroen Saxo when it was in collision with a Ford people carrier at Weare Giffard on Monday.

Three of six occupants in the people carrier are still in hospital with non life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police added that a lorry driver had also been interviewed in connection with the incident.

Mr Stansfield, who was the sole occupant in his car, was pronounced dead at the scene between Bideford and Torrington.

The road was closed for seven hours for a police investigation.
