Exeter attempted murder: three teenagers arrested

Three teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a knife attack in Exeter.

An 18-year-old man and a boy and girl, both aged 17, were arrested after police were called to Commercial Road at about 0115 BST.

Police said a man, 22, was found near the River Exe with "significant" knife wounds to his back and neck.

He was taken to hospital where he underwent surgery. He is said to be in a "stable condition".

Det Insp Brett Mitchell said: "I believe that the victim was attacked within The Foyer, on Commercial Road and I am satisfied that this is not a random attack on a person walking in the street.

"I am keen to establish how the victim made his way to the river bank after leaving The Foyer."

The Foyer is a residential unit for homeless people aged 16-25.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the police.
