Devon man bailed over Skiing Europe fraud claims

A 70-year-old man arrested by police investigating alleged fraud at Devon-based Skiing Europe has been bailed.

The un-named man was arrested after police searched a Colyton property. He has been bailed until 19 January.

Hundreds of students were affected after a number of school trips were cancelled by the firm and schools.

Skiing Europe has in the past blamed schools for being behind in their payments for some of the cancellations, claims which were denied.

Det Con Martin Battershill said: "We are working to ascertain whether criminal offences have been committed in the running of Skiing Europe."

Schools in Devon, London, Berkshire, Kent, Surrey, Essex and Hertfordshire were among those affected earlier this year.
