Man appears in court charged with partner's murder

A man charged with murdering his long-term partner in Devon has been remanded in custody by magistrates in Devon.

Michael Bird, 53, of Wonford Street, Exeter, is accused of killing Janie Tiley between 13 and 15 July.

The mother-of-two died from multiple stab wounds following an incident at the Wonford Street property.

He did not enter a plea and was remanded in custody by Exeter magistrates. He is due to appear before Exeter Crown Court on 5 August.
