Man charged over Plymouth stabbing

A man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent after a stabbing incident in Plymouth.

James Atkinson, 37, from Langhill Road, Plymouth, is appearing before the city's magistrates court on Monday.

Police were called to Langhill Road in the Peverell area at about 22:20 BST on Saturday after being alerted by an ambulance crew at the scene.

The stabbed man was taken to Derriford Hospital. His condition was serious but stable, police said.

The area was cordoned off for an investigation and officers remained in the area for much of Sunday, Devon and Cornwall Police said.
