About 5,000 bikers attend charity Mega Ride in Plymouth

Thousands of bikers have taken part in an annual charity motorcycle ride in Plymouth.

Organisers of the 17th Mega Ride said about 5,000 motorcyclists attended.

The bikers travelled about 30 miles, from Lee Mill Industrial Estate, to Marley Head and finished on Plymouth Hoe.

Riders raised money for the Chestnut Appeal for Prostate Cancer and the Starlight Foundation for Children by donating £3 at the start of the event.

The event had been due to take place in June, but was postponed because of roadworks.

The ride began in 1995 with about 400 bikers, and is now one of the biggest charity bike rides in the UK.
