Man arrested after body found in North Devon house

A 66-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a relative at a house in North Devon.

An unnamed 20-year-old man died following an incident at Snurridge House in South Molton, near Barnstaple, at about 03:30 BST, police said.

He was taken to Barnstaple's North Devon District Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Crime scene investigators are at the house, which has been cordoned off for forensic examinations to take place.

Det Ch Insp David Thorne, the senior investigating officer, said: "This is an extremely sad incident which occurred at approximately 3am this morning at Snurridge House near South Molton in North Devon.

"Following the incident paramedics transported the local 20-year-old male to North Devon District Hospital where he later died.

"A 66-year-old male, who is a distant family relative and lives in the South Molton area, has been arrested for murder. He remains in custody at Exeter Custody Centre."
