A 20-year-old stabbing victim "touched everyone he met with his kindness", his family has said.

Ryan King died after being stabbed in the throat with a glass during a party at his grandparents' property near South Molton, Devon, on the weekend.

Raymond Dupree, 66, of Bishop's Nympton, has been charged with murder and remanded in custody.

A statement from Mr King's family said: "Ryan was the most loving, caring, kindest boy you could ever meet."

After the stabbing at Snurridge Manor House in the early hours of Sunday, Mr King was taken to North Devon District Hospital in Barnstaple, where he later died from his injuries.

His family said his loss was devastating and life "would never be the same again".

"He was always there for his family and friends, whoever needed him... there wasn't one person he didn't touch with his kindness.

"If he saw a stranger crying in the street he would be the first to go and ask if they were OK.

"Ryan loved life and always knew how to put a smile on anyone's face, lighting up their lives with happiness."

Mr Dupree was remanded in custody by magistrates on Tuesday and is due to appear at Exeter Crown Court on 6 September.
