No action taken against mother quizzed over 'poisoning'

A mother who was arrested on suspicion of poisoning her son last Christmas has been told that no further action will be taken against her.

The 45-year-old woman was detained last December when her 12-year-old son fell ill while they were staying in Ashburton, Devon.

The boy was treated in Torbay Hospital and discharged on New Year's Day.

He was made the subject of a child protection order and placed in the care of his father in Bedfordshire.

His mother, who is also from Bedfordshire, has been on bail since her arrest.

But a spokeswoman from Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed no further action is to be taken against the unnamed woman and her bail has now been cancelled.
