A Dartmoor Search and Rescue Group has moved into its first permanent base in its 35 year history.

The Ashburton group is working from a building on land owned by the Abbot of Buckfast Abbey.

The group said it had previously relied on the "goodwill" of volunteers to store the vehicles and rescue equipment.

As well as searching for missing people, the group assists the emergency services in south and east Devon.

Group member Alec Collyer said: "We've now got somewhere where we can dry our kit, securely store our vehicles and give lectures to our team."
