Arrests follow Silverton church lead find

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of theft after a quantity of lead was found in a Devon churchyard.

Police said they received reports of people on the roof of St Mary's Church, in Silverton, at about 21:30 BST, on Thursday.

The police helicopter and a dog unit were used to search the grounds.

A 19-year-old man from Tiverton and an 18-year-old man from South Molton were found and arrested. Both men remain in police custody.

The amount of lead seized is currently unknown.
