Waste warning to holiday let owners in Devon district

A Devon council is warning owners of second homes and holiday lets to be more responsible in disposing of waste.

Torridge Council said it had written 19 warning letters in three months to people who had put out waste up to 48 hours before collection was due.

It said it was "unacceptable and extremely unpleasant for residents".

It added that proposed new laws could mean that waste from holiday lets could be treated as commercial waste and result in hefty fines.
