Business leaders in Alderney and Jersey have announced they will form closer communication links in future.

Minutes from the islands' Chamber of Commerce meetings are to be swapped between the islands.

Andrew Eggleston, the president of Alderney's chamber said the move would be of benefit to its members.

"They are the largest island and although they're not in the Bailiwick, we do have problems and topics that are mutual to all islands," he said.

Mr Eggleston said the move was not an attempt to reduce links with Guernsey.

"It's not a snub or a slight in the slightest," he said.

"We've always worked closely with Guernsey and will not change that at all."

He said expanding links throughout the Channel Islands reflected the growth of interest in the chamber in Alderney.

"From about 30 members only a few years ago, we've now got over 130," he said.
