Occupy protesters camp in Totnes, in Devon

Protesters supporting a global movement against inequality and corporate greed have set up a second camp in Devon.

South Hams District Council said two officers had asked protesters to leave the site behind Totnes's Civic Hall on Wednesday evening.

The authority said there were about seven protesters at the site and it would review the situation on Thursday.

Occupy camps have been set up outside Exeter Cathedral and next to Drake Circus Shopping Centre in Plymouth.

Ian Moore, from Occupy Totnes, said: "There are a lot of people here who are taking a fresh look at society."

A council spokesman said: "We are continuing to talk to the occupants of the camp to find out what their intentions are."

In Exeter, councillors will meet protesters on Thursday to discuss the reasons behind the camp on Cathedral Green.

About 18 tents have been at the site since 12 November.
