South Hams car parking charges are frozen for 15 months

Car parking charges in part of Devon are set to be frozen for the next fifteen months.

Prices in the South Hams district will remain frozen until March 2013.

Councillors at South Hams District Council approved the plans in a bid to "do all we can to help our market towns and rural communities".

Councillor Jonathan Hawkins said: "We hope that this will be of help to our local businesses and help our residents to continue to shop locally."

It is also hoped the frozen charges will "boost" the tourism economy.
