Prison van driver and prisoners hurt in A38 Kennford crash

Two prisoners and a driver have been taken to hospital after a prison van crashed on a Devon dual carriageway.

Eight police cars attended the incident on the A38 near Kennford at midday, Devon and Cornwall Police said.

A van transporting six prisoners crashed into the central reservation. One westbound lane was closed.

The driver was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital in a "serious condition". Two prisoners were also taken to hospital for treatment.

The remaining four prisoners were transferred to another vehicle to continue their journey to Channings Wood Prison in Newton Abbot.
