An anti-corporate greed protest camp in Plymouth has been abandoned.

The Occupy Plymouth camp was set up at the city centre's Jigsaw Garden, beside the Drake Circus mall. Protesters are believed to have left over the weekend.

On social networking websites, the group said it would hold weekly meetings instead.

The Occupy Exeter camp is still in place on Exeter's Cathedral Green. It was asked to leave last week by the cathedral's authorities.

Occupy Exeter was asked by the cathedral to respond to a request to leave the site by noon on Friday after complaints about noise, mess and disruption.

Representatives said they intended to remain on the green.

The Plymouth group began camping at the beginning of November.
