A 23-year-old man who died after a car crashed into a hedgerow in Devon has been named by police as Ben Gillard.

Mr Gillard, from Exeter, was driving a Honda sports car when it crashed on an unclassified road at Woodland, near Ashburton on 11 January.

He was pronounced dead at the scene after the single-vehicle collision.

Paying tribute, his family said: "Ben made an impression on all who met him and was highly regarded and respected as well as being loved by all."

The family added: "With his happy, smiling face, those big, blue eyes and cheeky grin, he will be sadly missed by all who knew him."

A second man, in his 20s and also from Exeter, suffered minor injuries in the collision.
