A woman arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving following a collision on the A38 in Plymouth has been released on bail.

The crash, involving a motorcyclist and a Vauxhall Meriva, happened at about 07:00 GMT between Weston Mill and Crown Hill on Monday.

The motorcyclist, who was in his 40s, died.

The woman, 57, from the Plymouth area, has been released on bail until 30 April while investigations continue.

The road, which was closed for several hours, reopened just before 15:00 GMT.

During the rush hour, traffic was queuing from Saltash in Cornwall over the Tamar Bridge into Devon.

The crash also resulted in major delays on the Torpoint Ferry as drivers attempted to avoid the gridlock on the roads.
