Driver in fatal Seaton crash named as Richard Sawbridge

A man who died when his car collided with another vehicle in east Devon has been named by police.

Richard Sawbridge, 68, from Seaton, died when his Renault Megane and an Audi R8 collided on the A3052 in Seaton on Monday

Mr Sawbridge died of his injuries at the scene, police said.

The driver of the Audi R8, a 52-year-old man, was arrested in connection with the death. He has been bailed until 23 April.

In a tribute, Mr Sawbridge's family said: "Richard was utterly committed to the community and, in particular, had a life-long dedication to teaching disadvantaged young people.

"As with everyone he touched throughout his life, he never gave up on anyone he taught.

"He inspired many youngsters to get involved in rugby and cricket. He was instrumental in building the Sidmouth Rugby Club junior sides to the size that they have today."
