Exeter University invests £8m in sport facilities

A Devon university is to spend £8m on improving its sports facilities.

The Exeter University plans include a health and fitness suite and upgraded netball courts.

Local people will be able to use the improved sports park, which will include one of the UK's largest indoor tennis centres.

Work will start in summer and it is hoped the new facilities will be open to students and the public early next year.

University of Exeter director of sport and student activities Phil Attwell said: "This will be a huge boost for our students - whether they are keen athletes or just want to stay fit and active.

"The refurbishment will also benefit the wider community of Exeter and we very much look forward to welcoming local people to enjoy the new facilities."

The University is currently investing £350 million in its campuses in Exeter and Cornwall.
