Newton Abbot's £2m Brunel skills centre is built

A £2m training facility for construction and catering students has been built in Devon.

The Brunel Centre in Newton Abbot will be run by three secondary schools and teach 50 students when it opens in September.

It is hoped the centre will offer young people more career options by offering technical and vocational courses.

Funding has come from Devon County Council and Teignbridge District Council.

The centre will be run by Teign School, Coombeshead Academy and Newton Abbot College.

Vyv Game, head teacher of Teign School, said: "[It] will both widen and broaden our technical and vocational offer for Newton Abbot and the Teign Valley.

"The courses we are offering are already fully subscribed."
