Capstone Point angler rescued after falling on rocks

An angler who slipped while fishing on rocks off the north Devon coast has been taken to hospital.

Swansea Coastguard coordinated the rescue of the injured man at Capstone Point when the alarm was raised just after 10:00 BST.

Coastguard rescue teams from Ilfracombe and Morthoe, Devon and Somerset Fire crews and South Western Ambulance paramedics were involved in the rescue.

The angler sustained serious but not life-threatening leg injuries.

Carl Farlow from Cornwall, who witnessed the rescue with his wife, praised the actions of the rescue services.

"There were about 28 of them and they all worked together in what was a really tricky rescue because of all the jagged ledges they had to lift the man over," he told said.
