Stoke Canon flood defence work to begin

A £1.8m flood defence project to protect more than 100 properties from two Devon rivers will begin later, the Environment Agency has said.

The scheme aims to protect the village of Stoke Canon, which is on the River Exe and River Culm floodplain.

The work includes building 1,200m of flood banks, creating a 150m flood wall and improving the current defences which were built in 1966.

The work is expected to be completed by the end of November.
