Plymouth roadworks begin around Laira Bridge

Roadworks on one of the major routes into Plymouth are starting and are set to last 11 weeks.

They include changes to the junction of Finnigan Road and Laira Bridge Road to improve traffic flow and provide better crossings for pedestrians.

Maintenance work on Laira Bridge, including resurfacing the road and replacing bridge joints, will also take place.

Plymouth City Council said the new layout would reduce congestion.

During the works, the right-hand turn into Finnigan Road will be removed and for the duration one lane will be open in each direction over Laira Bridge.
