The television presenter Angela Rippon and actor John Nettles are among those being honoured by Plymouth University.

The pair will both receive honorary doctorates of art as part of its 150th anniversary celebrations.

Baroness Helena Kennedy, one of the country's leading human rights lawyers, is among those being recognised between 17-22 September.

The university said the achievements of those being honoured reflected its mission and values.

Explorer Robin Hanbury-Tenison, who has been on more than 30 expeditions around the world, and Chris Murray from the south Devon attraction, Pennywell Farm are also being honoured.

The graduation ceremonies are held on Plymouth Hoe.
