Torquay double sex attacker Philip Green jailed

A man who exposed himself to a 13-year-old girl and asked her for sex has been jailed for five years.

Philip Green, of Exe Hill, Torquay, admitted sexual assault and indecent exposure, at Exeter Crown Court.

The schoolgirl was assaulted in Ash Lane, Torquay as she walked to school last October.

The court was told 25-year-old Green had assaulted another 13-year-old girl in 2010, but was not charged until after the second incident.

'Immediate custody'

Green was arrested after the first assault in Dart Avenue, Torquay, but despite being picked out in an identification procedure, he claimed he had an alibi and was released without charge.

But after the second assault - in similar circumstances - Green was prosecuted for both offences.

Mr Kevin Hopper, defending, said his client had been smoking a lot of cannabis and had only recently accepted he had issues that needed to be addressed.

Sentencing Green to five years, Judge Francis Gilbert QC said: "They are both serious matters that merit immediate custody."
