Man arrested after fire damages four houses in Tiverton

A man has been arrested after a fire broke out in a house and damaged three other neighbouring homes.

Seven fire pumps were called to Magnolia Court in Tiverton, Devon, after several people reported the fire at about 16:00 BST on Tuesday, Devon and Somerset Fire Service said.

No-one was injured, but one property was extensively damaged.

A 30-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of arson and later released on bail, police said.

The fire spread between two blocks of homes, causing severe damage to the roof, first floor and conservatory of another property.

All four houses were smoke damaged.

Devon and Cornwall Police and the fire service said a joint investigation into the cause was underway.
