Holsworthy knife incident prompts armed response

A man has been arrested following an incident involving armed officers and a police helicopter in Devon.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the response followed reports of a man in possession of a knife in Holsworthy, on Saturday evening.

A woman in her 50s was treated by paramedics for superficial injuries, a police spokesman said.

A local man, aged in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of assault and is being held in custody.

Insp Rob Curtis said speculation on social media networks that people had been stabbed or shot during the incident was "categorically untrue".
