Two wards at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital have been closed after cases of the sickness bug norovirus were confirmed.

Visiting restrictions are in place on three other wards and the hospital is asking anyone who has symptoms of the highly infectious virus to stay away.

Thirty seven extra beds have been made available to cope with demand.

There is no vaccine for norovirus, which usually lasts a few days.
