A train struck a fallen tree on a track after hurricane-force winds overnight across the South West.

Services were suspended between Paignton and Newton Abbot until about 09:00 GMT while First Great Western (FGW) cleared the line.

No-one was injured in the collision between Newton Abbot and Torre, the train operator said.

Winds of up to 81mph (130km/h) brought down a number of trees, blocking the road between Kenton and Exeter.

More than 50 properties were without power for several hours in Kingsbridge and in Malborough after a tree came down on power lines.
