Barnstaple boy, 13, charged with raping child
A 13-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with raping another teenager.
The boy, who cannot be named because of his age, faced six charges when he appeared before magistrates in Barnstaple, north Devon.
It is alleged the defendant, from Barnstaple, raped a 13-year-old boy between March and September last year in the town.
He is also accused of offences relating to male and female victims aged eight and nine.
Two of the counts relate to sexual touching against an eight-year-old boy.
The defendant also faces three further charges of causing or inciting an eight-year-old boy and a nine-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity.
He was granted bail and will next appear before a district judge at Exeter Magistrates' Court on Tuesday next week.
The judge will decide whether the case will be heard by a youth or adult court.
