A man thought to have lived in a den in the woods where a boy was raped in the 1960s is being sought by police.

The victim told police he was sexually assaulted in Whitleigh Woods, Plymouth, when he was aged between seven and 10.

Devon and Cornwall Police said they wanted to talk to a man who might have lived in the woods at the time.

The man had a scarred complexion, was in his late teens or early 20s, with short blonde hair.

Det Con Sarah Ronayne said: "This victim has taken the courageous step in telling us about his experience and we will do all we can to investigate this crime.

"However, we do need the help of the public and especially would like to hear from residents who lived in the Whitleigh area of Plymouth in the 1960s, as they may hold information in relation to identifying the attacker.

"I appreciate that this incident happened a long time ago but if anyone has any memory of this man or can offer any information about him we want to hear from you."
