A man has denied murdering a builder in an axe and knife attack in Plymouth.

Tanis Bhandari, 27, was killed in the early hours of New Year's Day near the King's Arms pub in Tamerton Foliot.

Donald Pemberton, 20, of Haydon Grove, St Budeaux, also pleaded not guilty to actual bodily harm and three counts of wounding with intent at Bristol Crown Court.

A trial is due to take place in November. Ryan Williams also appeared but no charges were put to him.

The 21-year-old, of Landulph Gardens, St Budeaux, is accused of murder and possessing an axe and knife in public.
