A dog, thought to have been thrown from a car, has been found injured on a dual carriageway.

The King Charles spaniel was found with suspected broken legs on the A38 near Kennford service station in Devon at about 14:00 BST.

The dog has been taken to a vet for treatment.

Police said they "only have third hand reports of how the dog came to be on the road and how it sustained its injuries".

Witnesses are being sought.
