Twenty seven tonnes of straw and hay were destroyed when arsonists set fire to a barn in Dorset.

The alarm was raised when smoke was seen coming from Longbredy near Dorchester at about 2230 BST on Monday.

Firefighters managed to cool an adjacent barn preventing the flames spreading but were forced to let the initial blaze burn out.

Crews remained at the scene to damp down. Anyone with information should call Dorset Police.
