Sandbanks fatal accident pedestrians were married

A man and woman who died when they were knocked down by a car as they walked in the exclusive Sandbanks peninsula in Dorset were a married couple.

Alan Bernard, 53, and his wife, Rochelle, 51, of Northwood, west London, were knocked down by a Mercedes car in Banks Road on Saturday night.

The business owner and housewife died at the scene from multiple injuries, Bournemouth Coroner's Court heard.

A 33-year-old Poole man was arrested over driving offences and later bailed.

A woman from London was also injured in the collision and taken to hospital, but later released.

The inquest was opened and adjourned.
