Climber rescued after cliff fall in Dorset

A climber had to be airlifted from a cliff in Dorset after falling about 60ft (18m).

Portland Coastguard was alerted shortly after 1500 BST on Saturday that the man had fallen off a cliff near the west side of Portland Bill.

The coastguard helicopter and Portland Bill rescue team attended the scene.

The man was winched into the helicopter and is now being treated in hospital, a coastguard spokesman said. His condition is not known.
